What is nutrition?
As molecular biology, biochemistry, and genetics advance, nutrition has become more focused on metabolism and metabolic pathways – biochemical steps through which substances inside us are transformed from one form to another.
Dietetics is the interpretation and communication of the science of nutrition; it helps people make informed and practical choices about food and lifestyle in both health and disease.
Part of a dietician’s course includes both hospital and community settings. Dietitians work in a variety of areas, from private practice to healthcare, education, corporate wellness, and research, while a much smaller proportion work in the food industry.
A dietitian must have a recognized degree or postgraduate degree in nutrition and dietetics and meet continuing education requirements to work as a dietitian.

Eat a healthy, balanced diet to stay fit and away from infections.
A diet that enhances and strengthens our digestive system needs to be followed. This can be done by eating small and frequent meals instead of hoarding on the already weakened digestive system. Warm beverages such as herb tea with the inclusion of lemon, cinnamon, mint, ginger root aid in better digestion and energize the body. Easily digestible foods need to be cooked using light cooking methods such as boiling, steaming, poaching, roasting, baking or braising. Fried foods which people usually stick onto must be avoided during this time. Stick to a low salt menu and omit hot, heavy acidic, sour foods such as pickles, chutneys, chilies, processed meat and curries. Bitter taste neutralizes Pitta. Add a lot of bitter vegetables like bitter gourd, turmeric, fenugreek leaves to the diet. Neem supplements should also be taken at least once during the day. Dash of garlic added to soups and curries helps in building body’s immunity.
